It has been a very busy first week of 2022 for APTANJ and A2316/S867, which “Permits physical therapists to perform dry needling under certain circumstances”. On Monday, January 3rd, A2316/S867 passed out of the Assembly Oversight, Reform, and Federal Relations Committee with a bipartisan vote of 6 (yes) - 0 (no).

Yesterday, the bill was heard in the Assembly Appropriations Committee and was overwhelmingly voted out in bipartisan fashion by a vote of 11 (yes) – 0 (no). The Dry Needling bill now heads to the New Jersey General Assembly for a full vote on Monday, January 10th.

This is where we need your help...

We need each of you and your patients to speak up on behalf of the physical therapy profession. Call your local Assembly representatives and tell them to vote “YES” on A2316/S867.
APTANJ needs everyone's involvement between now and Monday morning and a phone call takes only 2-3 minutes.

Here are some ways you can support our efforts:

  • CALL your local Assembly representatives (two in each district) and ask them to support A2316/S867. Ask your patients to do the same.
  • Reach out to your colleagues (members and non-members) and tell them to call their local legislators in support of A2316/S867. It doesn't matter if they perform dry needling or not.

We have said it before, what bonds the profession together is that you are licensed physical therapists in the State of New Jersey.

You can find the contact information for your local Assembly representative by accessing the Municipality Index located on the New Jersey Legislative website.

Thank you for your continued advocacy efforts on this dry needling legislation. APTANJ will continue to stand up for what we believe in on behalf of our members, their patients and the PT profession in New Jersey.
