SSIGs have a strong presence in states like NY, CT, and MA, and now it’s NJ’s turn to rise! By joining or helping to build this new community, you'll be part of an exciting opportunity to create outreach locally and collaborate across state lines.

Who We Are

The APTANJ SSIG is a student-led branch of the American Physical Therapy Association of New Jersey, designed to empower students to lead, connect, and make a meaningful impact early in their physical therapy journey. Whether you're in your first semester or preparing for your boards, this group is for you.

What We Offer

The SSIG aims to:

  • Unite APTANJ PT and PTA students members across New Jersey

  • Host student-focused events, including:

    • Webinar or in-person education sessions geared at student interests

    • NPTE preparation sessions

    • Insight into different PT/PTA specialities from seasoned professionals

    • Ability to create and network with professionals from a student standpoint

    • Collaboration with peers on creating fundraising events, networking events, advocacy dinners, student conclaves, etc.

    • Clinical education and CI panels

    • Resume, interview, and professional development workshops

  • Facilitate networking opportunities with peers, other SIGs,  clinicians, and APTANJ leaders

  • Share information on opportunities for statewide and national leadership opportunities within APTANJ and APTA

  • Promote advocacy and involvement in professional issues affecting students and new grads

  • Provide mentorship opportunities through APTANJ's statewide mentor network

Mentorship Opportunities

The APTANJ Mentorship program is a networking and professional development program designed to create a pathway for those who are seeking clinical and professional mentorship, to connect with experienced members, who have made themselves available for guidance and support. The program is open to all APTANJ members and can benefit clinicians at all stages of experience -- from students and new grads to experienced therapists who may be transitioning practice settings, moving to new professional roles, or simply looking to expand their knowledge.

Get Involved

📣 We are currently building our inaugural SSIG leadership team and would love for motivated student leaders to join us in shaping this initiative from the ground up. Whether you’re interested in a leadership role, helping plan events, or simply want to be kept in the loop, we want to hear from you! All APTANJ members are welcome.

Worried about the time commitment?
Don’t be. Members meet just once a month for 30–60 minutes, and leadership roles offer flexible involvement based on your availability and interest.
