APTANJ has just been informed that the Assembly Regulated Professions Committee has scheduled a hearing for Monday, October 15 at 1:00 pm at the State House Annex in Trenton to consider A392 which "Permits certain physical therapists to perform dry needling". This is another encouraging step forward as we seek to protect this technique by statute once and for all.

APTANJ needs everyone's help if we are going to protect this manual technique by law and advance physical therapy as a whole in NJ. Here's a list of things that we need you to do:

  • Call or email the legislators below and ask them to support A392...Ask your patients to do the same.
  • Reach out to your colleagues (members and non-members) and tell them to call or email their legislators in support of A392. It doesn't matter if they perform dry needling or not.  What bonds the profession together is that you are licensed physical therapists in the State of New Jersey.
  • SHOW UP AT THE STATE HOUSE ANNEX, COMMITTEE ROOM 15 ON THE 4TH FLOOR IN TRENTON ON MONDAY, OCTOBER 15 AT 1 PM TO SUPPORT YOUR PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATION AND YOUR PROFESSION. There is strength in numbers...let's let our opposition see that.

There is no more important time than now to demonstrate to the legislature that PTs are more than qualified to perform dry needling and have been doing it safely in New Jersey for nearly a decade. It is up to us to demonstrate to the elected officials as well as the opposition that we are serious about protecting physical therapy in New Jersey. This is a total APTANJ team effort.

Please show up at the State House Annex, 4th Floor, Committee Room 15 on Monday, October 15 at 1:00 pm and send a message that physical therapists stand united in support of one another no matter what the issue. You can park at the parking garage located at 1 W Lafayette St, Trenton, NJ. The State House is only two blocks from there. You will need a form of ID (i.e. driver's license) to enter the State House.

As always, if you have any questions or considerations, please feel free to contact us at info@aptanj.org. Thank you for your continued support and we hope to see you all in Trenton on Monday.
