Manny Guantez, MS, PsyD, LCADC, one of the leading experts on substance use disorder treatment and mental health in New Jersey will be the recipient of this year’s “PT Partner” Award presented annually by the American Physical Therapy Association of New Jersey (APTANJ).  The award will be given during APTANJ’s Honors & Awards program on Saturday evening, October 6, 2018 at the Ramada Conference Center in Monroe, NJ.

The “PT Partner” Award recognizes an individual who provides unwavering support of the APTANJ and the Physical Therapy Profession in New Jersey at the highest level.

“Manny has been an influential leader and an outstanding resource to APTANJ as we work to educate the public on how physical therapy can be alternative to opioids in New Jersey,” stated Daniel Klim, APTANJ Executive Director.

Having recognized that physical therapy can play a significant role as a non-narcotic form of pain management in helping to combat the opioid crisis, Dr. Guantez has been working to bridge the gap between the profession and substance use disorder treatment community in New Jersey.  He serves as an ad hoc member of the APTANJ Opioid Task Force, has presented “Physical Therapy as a Viable Option in Pain Management” across the state and lectured on “Opioids and the Athlete” from the psychological perspective at last year’s NJ Sports Medicine Seminar in Morristown, NJ.
