Avoiding addiction: How Manalapan man recovered from motorcycle crash without painkillers
Back in June, Rick Kenny was riding his motorcycle on a local road when a driver plowed into him.
“Luckily I flew over the handlebars and over the car, or I wouldn’t be talking to you right now,” he said.
The 52-year-old Manalapan resident walked out of the emergency room later that day, but the accident had consequences. Kenny suffered a concussion, a back injury and soft-tissue damage.
“The next day I was stiff as a board,” he. “I couldn’t bend over. I could hardly move.”
He followed up with the hospital, CentraState in Freehold, and made one thing very clear.
“I didn’t want to take painkillers,” he said. “I wanted nothing to do with that.”
