Regional Interdependence of the Lower Quarter: A Practical Application (1CE)

This presentation will describe regional interdependence and current research supporting it; providing information for a foundational understanding. There will be a discussion on spinal and lower quarter referred pain and methods to determine the pain origin will be provided. This module will also describe the utilization of regional interdependence as treatment directed at the spine and adjacent regions to reduce peripheral dysfunction and to improve movement and function.

Course Objectives:

1.Participants will be able to explain regional interdependence of the lower quarter.

2.Discuss and review current research around regional interdependence.

3.Describe case examples of using regional interdependence to treat seemingly unrelated areas.

4.Participants will be provided with various exercise examples to treat patients with regional interdependence.         



Chris Hanson, PT, MPT, DMT, OCS, FAAOMPT

Chris earned his master's degree in Physical Therapy from D'Youville College in Buffalo, NY. Upon graduation in his continued pursuit of improving clinical skills, he completed a two-year residency and one-year fellowship in Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy through the Ola Grimsby Institute. While completing his residency and fellowship, he also completed course work to receive a Doctorate in Manual Therapy. He is a board-certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist through the American Physical Therapy Association.




There will also be a presentation entitled Guardian Sports Knee Brace: Critical component of knee rehabilitation, by Anil Bhave, PT, Clinical Director Orthopaedic Rehabilitation and Director of Wasserman Gait Laboratory at the Rubin Institute of Advanced Orthopaedics at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, MD.
